Security Training Advisory Committee (STAC)
The Security Industries Authority’s governing body, the Security Industries Council has on the 29th June 2024 met and established a subcommittee known as the Security Training Advisory Committee (STAC).
It was established for the sole purposes to oversee and guide the development of the security training syllabus for security officers and guards throughout the country.
The intent of the Council is to have a security training syllabus that will become the standard training curriculum for all security companies (security license holders) to train their officers/guards in compliance with the Security (Protection) Industries Act 2004.
The syllabus would be comprehensive and would include courses ranging from basic to advance with other elective modules for specialist courses in the areas of aviation, CIT (Cash In Transit) maritime, firearms training, and the diplomatic security.
The Training Advisory Committee consists of three (3) current SIA Council members. There are Messrs. Kerry McNamara, Graham Ainui and Andrew Cook. Mr. McNamara been the Chairman and the Registrar of the SIA and his management are part of it.
The STAC has held two (2) meetings this year following its establishment and will soon hold consultative meetings with the National Training Council (NTC) and the representatives from security companies and interested stake holders for their collective input to design the final training modules.
The STAC will keep everyone informed on the progress of the course development on this news feed.
