Follow this steps:
- 1. Incorporate a security company with the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) and obtain a Certificate of Incorporation or Business Name issued by the Registrar of Companies.
- 2. Register with the Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) by making a formal application and get a Tax Identification Number (TIN).
- 3. Fill in Form 3 when applying for Class A or Class B license and Form 4 when applying for Class C license. Also complete the Security Officers /Guards Profile Form (all guards will have separate forms filled with their particulars). Complete and submit those Forms together with other necessary documents stated below.
- 4. Complete a Company Profile by stating details of the company including location of operation, addresses, contacts, emails, and other necessary information.
- 5. Pay the prescribed license fee for the relevant Class of security license, together with the Guard Permit fee of K22 per guard into the Security Industries Authority Bank Accounts as outlined in the License & Guard Permit Fee Schedule.
- 6. Attach copies of the IPA Certificate of Incorporation or Business Name, TIN Certificate from IRC, Police Clearance Certificate of the owner or Directors as stated in the IPA certificate, Form 3 (Class A or B) or Form 4 (Class C), Guard Permit application Forms, copy of bank deposits slip or remittance, and submit them to the appropriate Regional Inspector with the Company Profile.
- 7. Insurance (workers compensation & public liability) is optional for new registration. However, it is mandatory during the renewal phase should the company is in operation.
- 8. A turnaround time of less than 10 days after payment is made for vetting purposes before the security license and guard permits are approved by the Register. All guards permits and the security license are valid for 1 year from the date of issue.
- 9. No security license and guard permits will be issued from payments made by personal cheque, until the cheques are cleared by the bank as safety measure against fraudulent practices.
- 10. There will be no part payments for security license and guards permit fees. All fees must be paid in full.
- 11. All security companies shall have a bank account similar to the names of their security companies to carry out security business activities.
To promote good governance and transparency, only companies registered with IPA and have TIN Certificate from IRC with police clearance report will be allowed to register a security company with the Security Industries Authority.
